The demo's goal is to show multiUser stack access for 2 users. The ability to share with more users and the additional features that normally come with HyperShare aren't included.
In addition to this file and the announcement, here's what you should have …
2 stacks:
HyperShare Demo
JobStack
1 additional file:
HyperShareLog
System 7, HyperCard 2.1 (Player or Normal), an AppleTalk network
Here's how you set up the demo !!!
• Put the 3 files 'HyperShare Demo', 'HyperShareLog' & 'JobStack' onto a shared volume where both Macs can see them. This could be:
An AppleShare file server.
A third Mac with System 7 File Sharing enabled.
The hard disk of one of the two Mac's your using,
provided it can be seen by the other Mac.
Note that the 'HyperShare Demo' stack should be locked, so the 2 machines can share it.
Do the next steps for both machines, right !!!!
• Turn on Program Linking from the Sharing SetUp Control Panel
(Also check the Users & Group's Control Panel
to make sure that the other user is allowed to Link to your Mac.)
• Open HyperCard and 'go' to the "HyperShare Demo" stack. Type in the command:
hsDemo
(or press the button with the same name)
You will be prompted for the location of the 'HyperShareLog' file.
• Now type this command into the msg box :
goToShared "JobStack"
(or press the button with the same name)
If all is well, you wll be in a multiUser copy of the original stack called:
ExampleStack…ß
You should be able to see and make changes to the information, and those changes will appear to the other user (even if you're both on the same card). You can even make changes to the original stack, and those will also be shared.
The X commands and stack script inserted into this demo stack are a subset of what is contained in the actual HyperShare stack. The following limitations exist in the demo:
Only 2 users will be allowed to share the demo data.
The HyperEvents & MultiShare commands have been removed/minimized
The location of the HyperShareLog file is not remembered.
Multiple zone support not included.
Link dialogue boxes aren't disabled.
Annoying 'Answer' dialogues !!!
Good luck. Click on the 'ordering' button in the 'JobStack' when you're ready to … you know …
